NOW SHOWING: "CARVING CANVAS" AT THE MALIBU CITY GALLERY

I'm honored to have my work included in Carving Canvas, a community art exhibition presented by the Malibu Arts Commission at the Malibu City Gallery.

My piece "Speed" is on display alongside a collection of surf- and ocean-inspired work from artists across the community — a fitting theme for anyone who's ever chased a wave or a shifting line of light down the coast. Capturing motion and energy in the ocean is at the heart of what I do, and it means a lot to share that here in Malibu, so close to the water that inspires it.

"Speed" by Ryan Cardone, slow-exposure ocean wave pan shot at Zuma Beach

“SPEED”

A little about "Speed": I shot it at Zuma Beach on what turned out to be one of the most perfect evenings I can remember. I was driving up the coast when it all caught my eye — the waves were the best I'd seen in a long time, and a nice little sunset was happening behind them. "Speed" is a slow-exposure pan, following a single wave as it moved across the frame. Every element just lined up — the right place at the right time. An unforgettable day.
