RYAN CARDONE
Ryan Cardone grew up surfing and loving the ocean. In his early 20s he became a professional surfer, traveling the world and competing on the surf circuit. During those travels his passion for photography developed — he was always drawn to capturing the water, the light, and the culture surrounding it.
After competing professionally, Ryan trained at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, one of the most respected photography programs in the country. That combination — waterman's instinct and formal technical training — defines his approach to fine art ocean photography. He does not photograph the ocean from the shore. He is in it.
His fine art work has been exhibited at the Manhattan Beach Art Center, Shockboxx Gallery in Hermosa Beach, and Culture Brewing Co., among others. In 2024, he received 1st Place in the Water/Snow/Ice category at the 13th Annual Mobile Photography Awards. His prints — limited edition and open edition — hang in homes and offices across the South Bay, Southern California, and beyond.
Ryan's commercial work has taken him around the world, shooting campaigns for Vans, Asics, The North Face, Lululemon, and others. His work has appeared in Surfer's Journal and National Geographic Kids. But the fine art practice is where his focus lives — capturing the energy of the California coast in a way that makes people feel the ocean even when they're standing in their living room.
Prints are available in multiple sizes and substrates, starting from $110. Custom and large-format orders are available for residential, hospitality, and commercial installations. Ryan is based in Hermosa Beach and serves collectors across the South Bay, Los Angeles, and nationwide.
